Expert Training 2

Information about training programme

  • Title of training: Species recognition in microfungi. Application to Penicillium species.
  • Description of project: Penicillium are among the most common moulds associated with human activities. However their taxonomy is far to be stabilized. Molecular investigations, where substantial numbers of strains are examined, have evidenced a fuzzy delimitation of morphospecies and numerous cryptic species. The purpose of the training is to recognize the major morphotypes of Penicillium, to make participants sensitive to the phenotypic variability (inter and intra specific) of these microfungi and to open to multigene phylogenetic species recognition concept in fungal taxonomy.
  • Duration of training: 1 week
