The European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy (EDIT) will organise its annual Summer School of Modern Taxonomy 2010 in Madeira, Portugal.

The main purpose of this summer school is to provide MSc- & PhD-level students with practical experience in modern taxonomy. To this end, in partnership with experienced taxonomists, field sampling will be accompanied by theory lectures to provide an in-depth understanding of current trends in modern taxonomy.

You will be informed of your acceptance within a reasonable time after applying.

Fungal biology has never been as important as it is today and this is undoubtedly the most exciting time to be studying the subject. The International Mycological Congress represents the greatest scientific forum to provide an up-to-date perspective of mycology in all its guises.

Evolution, biodiversity and systematics
Fungal pathogenesis and disease control

SANBI and The Netherlands Centre for Biodiversity Naturalis are pleased to invite you to an international workshop on "Using botanical diversity patterns to quantify current and future values of ecosystem services that support human well-being in South Africa" organized as part of the NWO WOTRO full application procedure. The workshop will be held from 23-27 August 2010 at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa.
