iSCB is an intensive 9-days graduate course directed at MSc and PhD students from European and Mediterranean countries who already have basic training in biology/ecology and other related subjects. The School primary focuses on quantitative methods in conservation biology, and it is taught in English. It includes lectures, discussions and problem solving exercises, computer labs, group projects, evening lectures given by invited speakers, and a two day field course to the islands of Cres and Losinj. The European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy (EDIT) will organise its annual Summer School of Modern Taxonomy 2010 in Madeira, Portugal. The main purpose of this summer school is to provide MSc- & PhD-level students with practical experience in modern taxonomy. To this end, in partnership with experienced taxonomists, field sampling will be accompanied by theory lectures to provide an in-depth understanding of current trends in modern taxonomy.
